What? Why?
Well... I always thought it's sad that Cisco no longer has an official report about the number of CCIEs like it was in the past. The idea of having a (rough) number of experts (overall and in your country) seems to be a nice info (at least to me), but on the other hand I can understand if some people may not like to be automatically counted/mentioned/whatever (if this is the official reason, but I don't know it for sure), although most of the experts I know want to show off what they've got ;-)
I'm aware of the (virtual) Hall of Fames for CCIEs, like the CCIE HOF, INE's Wall of Success or iPexpert's Success List, but they don't show where the candidates are from. That's something I'm always curious about and there was a second reason that finally brought me to create this map: I live in the western region of Austria, in Tirol to be exactly, and there are only a few (5-10) CCIEs around. We thought we know each other as there are just a few, but even in this tiny region with a low number of CCIEs we didn't know about a guy who is a CCIE and just lives around the corner. Time to do something about that ;-) That was the day (in August 2015) when I decided to create the most comprehensive map for CCIEs around the world. Ok, the map is pretty empty right now, but please remember that the site has gone online in September 2015 and I hope that it will grow in the futute. I also thought that if I do that I should do it properly, which means any expert, not just Cisco. That's why on the same day I decided to also create maps for Juniper JNCIEs, Brocade BDAs and Huawei HCIEs.

The best thing about my map is that you CAN be listed if you want to, but of course nobody would ever be listed without a personal request. An entry on the map is requested via email (see Add an entry) and it's FREE! You can also be deleted whenever you want, but I hope that this will never be the case ;-)

Thanks
Huge thanks fly out to Open Street Map for making this possible, DigitalGlobe for the beautiful tiles, leaflet.js for the great interactive map, Dominik Hüttner for helping me out when I'm stuck, Google for letting me find all the stuff I don't know AND OF COURSE ALL THE EXPERTS WHO WANT TO BE LISTED HERE :-)
